Hosted a dinner last night with 8 fintech execs and VCs. I posed the question of whether, based on what’s been reported so far, they think this Facebook Coin experiment will work. All but 1 quickly answered they’d take the under on that. No trust and don’t see value proposition.
have no horse in this but massive and unique distribution channels + platform lock-in seem to make it a clear win in the developing world. facebook is /the internet/ for hundreds of millions of folks, and this is the payment layer

@grlalx . FB/WhatsApp is willing to fund infra to get the developing world countries growing on their platform. This is just a small step in that stack
