also significant amounts of ownership is held by the Israeli government afaik. The scale/difficulty of generics manufacturing is something that technology companies continuously fail to understand

Difficulty depends on the drug and the more difficult it is, the manufacturing is outsourced. The bigger issue is raw material supplies. Most are locked up via contract to prevent competition. I worked in the market segment for 10 years
