this feels like a really interesting toy problem to test the ability to do actually useful things. Happens in ML-research all the time with game-playing examples to test RL algs. It's not like this tech is entirely un-generalizable.
I'd considered this, but I wonder how generalizable card-sorting is? And if that's the case, I would LOVE to hear their end game vision because I really hope it's something a bit more aspirational than this.
afaik PCB/hardware sorting is a relatively unsolved problem that mirrors this well. unclear if this is a problem JPL faces.
