This is the coldest take-- 23andMe didn't build their empire on customers making an informed choice on low cost sequencing vs privacy, but instead customers not realizing the value of the data they are giving up. No different than facebook.

I think there’s a leap between “finding out my heritiage” and “having my genome sequenced” that’s non-obvious.
