“Newts are getting in the way” says PM. We disagree, Habitats Regulations protect our most important wildlife sites from development. #TheTimeisNow for a green recovery that addresses nature's loss and climate change, not worsens them. Government decision to invest billions on roads rather than take this opportunity to address climate change and the loss of our natural world is hugely disappointing and will support further decline. Read full response to PM’s announcement here: https://www.wildlifetrusts.org/news/wildlife-trusts-call-nature-be-heart-economic-recovery-not-simply-add …pic.twitter.com/TeiDWygFLE

Craig Bennett, Chief Executive of The Wildlife Trusts: "Billions for road building projects and just £40 million for nature. This is hugely disappointing. Serious investment in nature could provide a green recovery, which addresses the twin crises of our age."

Just more tory lies upon lies, all they are doing is protecting business and money.

Ok you lot on this Thread, here's a challenge. Being the Twitterati doesn't change a thing and won't save a woodlouse let alone a newt. The Green Movement is weaker now that at any time in my 60+ years. Who will mobilise to get out on the streets?

Presumably he applies the same lack of consideration to archeological finds on building sites.

So what is Wildlife Trusts official policy on district level licensing for GCN? Because it was trialed in Surrey by your own regional branch.
