This week's plant is bur oak. It is a member of the beech family and has lobed obovate leaves in an alternate arrangement. It can be distinguished by its acorn, which start out green then turn brown and have spiny cups (cap) that cover over half of the nut.

There is exciting bird news in Grant Park, an immature Goshawk today, first record for park. Sadly, it struck a window & died. Museum seldom kills birds because it has few & generally small windows. My assumption is hawk hit window while trying to catch a bird.
