In this particular case, the woman in question did have 5 pregnancies, so it's maybe not quite as reflective of the diminished desire to have children as other stories.

Even if this particular case isn't reflective of diminished desire/purposefulness in earlier years, the feeling of regret will be shared regardless of what brought them to that point.

Maybe they will regret not having children in 50 years, but having children they are not in a financial position to take care of in an increasingly grim world will result in them regretting it right now.

Meh... Had our 1st kid barely out of college. Dirt poor at the time. Logically, a terrible time to have a kid. 3 more followed. We're not rich, but very comfortable now. All 4 children & my wife are a blessing. We underestimate the burdens we can bear & the blessings that follow.

Hi Brad, how do we combat this? Many women my age (25yo) see the consequences of making life choices towards this situation, but we can't find a partner who wants the same things/has similar values. Examples:

women could lower their expectations about what is important/possible in a relationship that aims for marriage and kids in response to a bind like that.

I know many people older than 50 who are extremely grateful they never had kids. Nature is telling us we don’t have to breed so much anymore we should pay attention.
