Multinational science Delphi: - #COVID is airborne (100%); - indoor areas drive transmission (100%); - N95 masks help (96%); - public health pushes false info by denying airborne (90%); - vax alone can't end COVID (97%); - false info undermines social cohesion for response (99%)

🧵NEW - Worldwide expert panel study, Nature: 1. "SARS-CoV-2 is an airborne virus that presents the highest risk of transmission in indoor areas with poor ventilation." Agree/Somewhat agree - 100%. #CovidIsAirborne #Covid19

Hey, any #infosec folks seen this? It's hitting my sister at her work as well - works fine, but the font mapping looks very broken. It started happening after they enabled 2FA at Scouts. /c

Weird new issue in Excel Online, seen in Edge. Excel's search field display the wrong characters, eg type abcd, see ¿¾½¼. Copy and paste the string elsewhere, correctly "abcd" seen! @Office @MSEdgeDev

I haven't seen this design before! $25 fan + 2x$20 filter = $65 capital cost for a mini-CR box! Now I'm curious to have analyze it and let us know how efficient this design in! :) #CorsiRosenthalBox #FilterTheAir #BreatheEasy #COVIDisAirborne

To make a small Corsi-Rosenthal: Use a 10” table fan. Two rectangular MERV13 filters bent to 90 degree angle. Cut cardboard support to match shape of fan. Shroud on top of fan (cover tips of blades to optimize). #CorsiRosenthalBox #airpurifier #airfiltration #COVID19

Epic rant on why the droplet dogma has to go. It was still the go-to argument for #COVID spread in December 2022 for at least one WHO official. Little problem: it's wrong. COVID is an aerosol disease. Always has been. Pretending it isn't avoids measures that will save lives.

doctorsinunite.com/2023/01/26/whe Two months ago a senior WHO official repeated what WHO and IPC have been saying throughout the pandemic: Covid-19 is spread by droplets. They have never produced any evidence for this. Time to do so. @WHO @davidnabarro Summary 🧵below

Plan A: lockdowns Result: great success Plan B: masks and vaccines Result: partial failure Plan C: only vaccines Result: mass infection Plan D: declare victory Result: ...?

Vax and relax. Until Feb. 12, then it's infection boosters for the lot of you under 50. theguardian.com/world/2023/feb

This is excellent. Adjunct Professor Tarun Weeramanthri, recently told Croakey: “the first decline in life expectancy in Australia in living memory … alone should trigger a rethink and potentially a reset of the COVID-19 Management Plan.”

Fantastic follow-up chart from : what do all of those names actually mean to us, as potential victims. Enter: the Uh-Oh Zone.

XBB.1.5 (Kraken) has been of concern because it has the antibody escape of XBB but also has mutations that restored its ACE2 binding ability. But look at DS.1 (= BA.2.75.5.1.3.1.1), another descendant of Centaurus (and Hydra). It's way up in the "uh oh zone". 2/ h/t: @RajlabN

Graph plotting immune escape (y-axis) versus ACE binding (x-axis). Variants in the top right of this figure (the "uh oh zone") are good at both evading immunity and binding to host cells. XBB.1.5 is well in that zone, but DS.1 stands alone at the top right.
