Just imagine a private company being allowed to massively drill for oil in Yellowstone, purely for profit, destroying the park in the process. What is doing is way worse - it pollutes the sky for EVERYBODY in the world, and you can't escape it.

If you are interested in the weird and wonderful comet 29P/SW-1, here you can access our latest article that has just been accepted for publication in The Astronomical Journal. "CO gas and dust outbursts from Centaur 29P/Schwassmann-Wachmann".

Asteroid hunting ritual. Before going on sky, we ring this gong hoping that the sky will provide some good asteroids.

Orbits and position of the 8 Near Earth asteroids that I found a couple nights ago at the night of the discovery. The names of the asteroids are overlaying close to Earth because those objects were relatively close to Earth at discovery. None of these objects have risk of impact.

I really miss the birds in Florida. Recently I started birding in Arizona and I'm finding that the birds here are trickier and more difficult to ID. These are some pics of birds that I took back in Florida.

Check the Catalina Sky Survey Orbit View. It's a new app written by my teammate David Rankin. Some of its most impressive features are the ability to plot multiple objects and the ability to plot objects from the NEOCP and PCCP.

P/2019 Y3 (Catalina) has just been announced and it is the first comet that I had the pleasure of discovering. I found a diffuse object on Dec 17 while surveying with the Catalina 0.68m Schmidt. The object was in the last set of images of the night.

Twas the day before Christmas, and like all good things, our 7 days of FSI Christmas Highlights must come to an end. But before we say au revoir, we still have two wonderful women to talk about. We present Dr. Maria Womack, Planetary Scientist and Astrophysicist who joined our

It's always nice to see known comets during survey operations. Tonight I stumbled on 160P/Linear with the Catalina Sky Survey 0.68m Schmidt.

From the package documentation "This package provides an essential feature to LaTeX that has been missing for too long. It adds a coffee stain to your documents. A lot of time can be saved by printing stains directly on the page rather than adding it manually."

This is nerdy, but here is a page of my PhD dissertation with the LaTex coffee stain package. I'm seriously tempted to leave it there just to mess with the USF electronic thesis & dissertation folks that are giving me a hard time due to formatting issues.
