Why do cur dogs and bay dogs teach em to sit? Because they (the dogs) always bite the back end and heels to force them to either move to give chase or sit and wait it out.

Bay pens. The point of bay pens is to keep a semi controlled environment to see how your dogs are going to respond and what role they're going to fulfill, giving you the opportunity to get in and help if needed.
Bay pens are being banned in many locations which is dangerous
If you're not willing or able to stich your best friend up after fighting a rank hog, you don't deserve the dog.
