We, in Wallonia, love cheese. We excel at it! One of favourite artists is Jacky Cange, an affineur, a real artist. He chooses cheese from passionate producers and ages them to perfection. Think… Washed-rind cheese ripened with port, a blue cheese heightened with Sauterne.

The Cistercians of Abbey had been brewing their own beer since the Middle Ages… The site sadly closed in 1859. Thankfully, passionate brewers have since revived its traditional recipes. Why not stop by the majestic ruins then indulge in a few sips in the nearby tavern?

Photovdc succeeded to capture the full weight of history in this shot of the Lion’s Mound: there is something dramatic about it about the light, the relief bringing the battles back to mind, something glorious too, a glimmer of hope, the start of a new era...

If you are in this season, look out for these in bakeries all around. Called cougnoules, this treat is also nicknamed “the bread of Jesus” as its shape reminds of a newborn wrapped in swaddling clothes. Some versions even sport a tiny disk (“baby”) made of sugar.
