I've never really considered myself a part of the Smash Community, but I do know of a lot of people in it. I used to be on good terms with someone I looked up to who was revealed to be an abuser, and when I tried to discuss it with them they just said a lot of nothing.

The most annoying part about it is that no one believed the victim, they just all went after her, claiming it was "feminist cancel culture" and bullshit like that. I've seen how these things have been twisted and manipulated first hand and I understand the tactics.

I waited for some kind of real response, for some sort of admittance of fault, taking responsibility for what they did. I saw them as a friend, even if weren't close, and as someone I looked up to, I wanted them to do the right thing. But they deflected for the optics.

Even now I see how they remark on what they did without ever saying a specific word about it. And I feel like shit about this, not saying a word about any of this. But I don't know if that's what the victim would want. And I don't know if I'd be believed
