Avatar pulled the same thing off just fine lol What about the air nomads and those loyal to the fire nation? Why have characters accept bitter reality and move forward to the future instead of a happy contrived fairy tale ending with asterisks next to them

It’s not similar beyond Fire Nation buying into propaganda and obedience, which Book 3 showed the many cracks of already. Steven more or less DID take over in terms of guiding into Era 3. But of course he couldn’t do it alone, because gems are DESIGNED to obey the Diamonds

I’m talking about the present day Homeworld Gems that didn’t defect or were created into circumstances that repressed the idea of rebellion more than ever. The Crystal Gems were largely comprised of rejects. They had a reason to defect. Elite Homeworld gems do not.
