Is there any ongoing discourse worth having on the issue of invisible problems--that is, problems that exist, are serious issues, and are ignored or made worse due to their invisibility?

Like, example: I appear able bodied, so people assume I am. I have had people actively try to make my disability symptoms ~worse~ because they don't see me in a wheelchair or something. So they wanted to 'prove' fakery, I guess? And got me hospitalized.

Absolutely. The conversation on "invisible disabilities" is pretty strong, particularly as it directly ties into mental health. The stigmas attached to how we consciously and socially identify disabilities, and how we frame them, is a major issue. Some orgs spread awareness.

But it's part of a greater... class of human behavior? I don't have the words for this the idea that there is a problem and someone says "this is not a problem, because X and Y are related"

like, not relating to disability, look at how there was a whole "flyover states shouldn't speak" problem a few weeks back. Flyover states FINALLY got something representing them and instead of celebrating this incredibly rare thing, we got "they're all americans, not important"

Okay so let's say that you think representation = good. A game set in America, a country that is overrepresented in media, is at a glance Already Represented = Not Good. Applying your previous inferences completely wipes all further need for thinking.

Which is why I'm like... Do we have a formalized name for "making things worse by not being willing to see problems due to proximity" Or "the closer a problem is to not a problem, the more difficult it is to spot, leading to the choice to make it worse"

there's gotta be a name for this other than pure laziness
