Honest question if someone did something really terrible, suffered a lot because of that and honestly wanted to change, and worked towards it, would it still be wrong to want to help them? No right answers, say what you truly feel

It honestly all depends. I feel the statute of limitations should vary from case to case. Maybe down the line they can redeem themselves if it was real bad, but I won't outright forgive someone if that's the case. Please don't tell me this is about you, Cheick.

There's no such thing to me as an irredeemable act. A victim has the right to never want to help someone who hurt them, absolutely! But if the person just wants to be better for themself and their future friends, there's no reason to not help if you can!

I understand there are certain things who are harder to forgive than others, but we as a society need to move past being relentlessly unforgiving. What are we gonna do with horrible people who genuinely want to change? Kill them? What problem does that solve?

If someone genuinely wanted to change & grow past their bad actions then no I don't think it's "wrong" to want to help them, not at all. You're not obligated to, specially if they hurt you, but I don't see how it could be wrong to want to help them grow. Sometimes folk need help

It depends 100%, if they really want to change they should already be on the path. You can try to help them and support them because everyone deserves that, but if they start falling back into the bad habits then let them know and if they don't continue trying you shouldnt either

the want to help them is never wrong, what matters is if its worth it to actually follow up on that help, if their idea of ‘help’ is to help them avoid consequences then no, they get their punishment and if they want help to change after, sure.

They can redeem themselves but forgiveness is not guarantee. Specially to those they hurt it's not wrong to help them. But the damage are still there
