RIP sweet Scarlet!
Ken Balcomb of the Center for Whale Research has been studying the Southern Resident orcas since 1976. He is the foremost expert on their behavior. This afternoon, he said of Scarlet/J-50: "I think she is gone." The search for her continues, but with dwindling hope.
