Rodwell Trail- I have seen a couple of Firecrests regularly through the winter.Usually in dark shade but today was a brighter day and I managed 1/200 F/5.6 ISO 12800 to get a couple of record shots. They were not calling at all.

RSPBRadipole-Again. Always exciting to get a patch tick and even better to find it🤣😲. This breeding plumage Male Penduline Tit was feeding on Reed Mace in the corner near the viewing shelter this morning.

This 2CY Great Black-backed Gull ( Male from size especially bill) was in Radipole car park this afternoon. He was on the beach in Guernsey 3 days ago. Good result.

On sunday we cleared the cobwebs (literally!) from under the bonnet and drove up north to my sister’s near Reading. There are Red Kites about in the area and, by chance, I found a small roost site. The late afternoon light was brilliant. The Kites were wary though.

Green Woodpeckers - what a pain they can be to just get a decent view let alone a decent shot 🤨This female just stayed for those few seconds necessary to get this photograph and then off she went.😊

RSPBLodmoor- Snipe anybody😯. Monica and I reckon that there were 300 Snipe in the air at one time when the whole Reserve was panicking this morning. One of the photos has around 100 Snipe.

RSPBRadipole-lots of photographers have “filled their boots”with Beardie shots over the past few weeks, myself included. On this most miserable of days I’ve been doing a bit of spring cleaning of my photos and I find I have a few decent shots.

RSPBRadipole-There have been up to 5 Marsh Harriers on the Reserve recently. The 2 breeding males are always present with “white feather” seen carrying nesting material. These pics are of the old Male taken from the north screen.

I’ve been trying to get a reflection shot of one of the Osprey Quay Great Northern Divers but there has always been ripples on the water. Finally a totally calm day coincided with one of them being close enough for the photo I wanted.

Mediterranean Gull flying across the face of tonight’s full moon😉! Couldn’t quite manage the 240,000 mile depth of field required to get both in focus🤔!

Radipole-This adult Med Gull is posing a bit of a problem with the Med Gull data base/ ringers It does not quite fit any sequence used but AHHK is the closest. Ringed in Germany 12 years ago. If you see it better pics/ reading needed of both rings.

RSPBLodmoor-This ad Yellow-legged Gull was also present in the twilight fog and drizzle. For a minute before being flushed by a much rarer Merlín-sods law😤. Quite a streaked Gull, perhaps from NW Spain/Portugal? Scaup and Garganey also.

RSPBLodmoor-It’s always a bit of a surprise when a Black Swan flies and there is suddenly all that white in the wings. I was lucky enough to get a quick snap when the Lodmoor bird flew a few yards.

RSPBRadipole-The first Great Egret of the year and the first for a couple of months was around the north end of the Reserve today. And briefly near the North Screen. In today’s semi darkness good pics were never possible.
