WWS was presented the Heritage Award by the Oregon Columbia Chapter representing 25 years of membership. The AGCofA, provide a full range of services satisfying the needs and concerns of its members improving the quality of construction and protecting the public interest.

The Family First Community Center in Renton WA is almost done. WWS provided all the glulam beams, they are Douglas Fir with varying combinations and radiuses. Architectural and industrial grade glulam were used, with architectural having putty-filled knot holes and imperfections.

The WWS team built a new boardwalk for our hometown of Tualatin, OR connecting new apartments and Browns Ferry Park. We designed, supplied, and installed it, using Diamond Piers that had minimal impact on the ground. City of Tualatin, we’re ready for the next one!

March Madness is here! The brackets have been filled and posted in the WWS lobby. The “Glulam” trophy (pictured on right) goes to the winner to display on their desk for a full year…which to some isn’t considered a prize. This trophy comes with a basketball Ken-action figure!

How to make a room memorable? Simple: Add Timber. This photo is a “portal” on the campus of a large tech company near Redmond, WA. The Western Wood Structures installation crew assembled these beams, which quickly transformed this space into a place of warmth.

Our timber bridges are fabricated using pressure-treated, glued-laminated wood (Glulam). WWS has designed & supplied more than 5,000 timber bridges since 1969. From a small wooden bridge spanning a mountain stream, to the longest clear-span, timber vehicular bridge in the world.

Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) acts as the structural & visual element of a building. It can be used for floors, roof & walls. It's comprised of layers of kiln-dried lumber boards stacked in alternating directions, bonded with adhesives & pressed to form a solid rectangular panel.

Ground was broken in 2022 on the Westmark School project near Los Angeles but the fun stuff has recently arrived. We’re referring to the CLT panels on this project. Western Wood Structures supplied the CLT Mass timber material package to . Looking good so far.

Another upcoming bridge model for the City of Sparta, WI, is going to be assembled by the 5 Shovelmen. Its a 12’x60’ Side Girder Bridge on a local golf course. A Side Girder Bridge is a deck “pinched” between the girders, with purlins & floor beams beneath, reducing the depth.

Construction of the Tasting Room is underway in Newberg, OR. All Douglas Fir glulam beams were prefabricated prior to arrival using knife plate connections; plugged & sanded to required spec. It's hard to beat this view! Check back for finished photos at a later date.

There are 36 trusses for this building in LA, CA, comprised of multiple sound stages. The trusses are 132’ long, ranging from 15’ to 20’ tall, each with 700+ bolts. Timber is ideal for the acoustics needed in sound studios, as timber absorbs sound, making it the natural choice.

Mass Timber buildings have been used to store potash for decades. Timber structures are preferred & they're some of the largest Mass Timber Buildings in the world on a PSF basis. They are usually 175'W or more X 600' to 2000'L X >100'H. Send any potash construction needs to WWS!

Introducing the newest member of the WWS family, baby Yukiko, daughter of Matt & Joana. Joana has worked for WWS for 6 years & this bundle of joy makes it a family of 4. She arrived at 3:30am on Jan. 1, missing the window of first baby born at the hospital. We forgive you Yukiko.

Newell Creek Canyon Nature Park (Oregon City) has 5 miles of new trails, 3 WWS timber bridges, signs, benches & various retaining wall works. Twin Oaks Trails & Design was the GC & high-lined in the 60’ bridge. WWS designed the bridge with 2 splices & 20' max member lengths.

The WWS engineering department visited in Dayton, OR! The tasting room, voted best in the nation by , is filled with glulam beams & T&G decking that WWS supplied/installed in 2019. Its in the Willamette Valley, with enhanced beauty from timber construction.

This 135’ Tied Arch Confluence Park Bridge is in Issaquah, WA (built in 2017). It's a hybrid made of glulam, concrete deck & custom steel rail. It's designed to carry pedestrians, bicyclists & some vehicles. Eng:, GC: Nisqually Construction Services, Design & Install: WWS

Sound Stage trusses locked & loaded on the truck, bound for Los Angeles. Here are the boys who truly make things happen; roughly half of the current WWS field crew at Bojarsky Inc. on Swan Island. This photo was taken after another successful day of fabricating 120’ long trusses.

WWS recently oversaw a load test on newly installed sound stage trusses in Los Angeles. WWS applied a roof live load with sheets of plywood (roof top photo). The total weight on the roof was 30,000 lbs, with another 10,000 lbs on the bottom chord. Well done WWS engineering team.

The Browns Ferry Park in Tualatin, OR, is home to this hybrid bridge using glulam rails, posts & girders & a plastic deck system (a project for the ). WWS was the designer, installer & helped with other general construction areas. WWS always appreciates local work.

In Sep. 22' WWS completed the purchase of Bojarsky Inc., a timber fabrication shop in NW Portland. The shop will be moving HQ to Swan Island. Here's 1 of the 2 bays in the new location & a 130’ long sound stage truss being fitted for a project that needs a total of 32 trusses.

Autumn at college is a pretty sight in Portland, OR. It’s been almost 5 yrs since the 188’ Covered Parallel Chord Truss Bridge was installed by WWS. The bridge was assembled in sections & the CLT roof was the 1st timber bridge roof structure made with CLT panels.

WWS’s role is complete, but work continues in Redwood City, CA, at the site of County Office Building #3. The Mass Timber Building houses 576,000 sqf of stored carbon in the CLT floors & structural glulam beams. S/O to our employee, Wilson, for his post:
WWS provided various long clear span timber bridges Resort in Temecula, CA, a few decades ago. There were a series of Girder Bridges (50’ to 70’) & Bowstring Truss Bridges (90’ & longer). WWS replaced damaged areas & verified that the golf course is fun to play!
