In 2022, our Economic Crimes Bureau prosecuted individuals & corporations who stole $3.1 million+ from unsuspecting victims including cases of wage theft/labor fraud, investment schemes, tax fraud, scams targeting seniors & immigrants, employee embezzlement & identity theft.

Since taking office, DA Rocah installed a Senior ADA & crimes analyst to focus on hate crimes prosecutions. Our Hate Crimes Unit dedicates year-round legal training for law enforcement &“upstander” presentations in schools & the community to foster prevention and tolerance.

A Mount Vernon resident, who pleaded guilty in November to throwing his friend’s 12- week-old Pitbull puppy to its death on a Yonkers roadway in May 2022, was sentenced Thursday to 14 months in Westchester County Jail. DA Rocah said:

A jury last week found Terrence Gonzalez, 30, guilty of murder for the 2020 shooting death of 23-year-old Lateef Butler outside the Yonkers apartment bldg where they both lived. The defendant was arrested in the Saw Mill River after leading police on a foot chase.
