Yet another bait+switch by $MSFT, eliminating license benefits to force MS use. 1st, MS took away BYOL SQL Server on RDS, now no Windows upgrades w/BYOL on#AWS. Hard to trust a co. who raises prices, eliminates benefits, + restricts freedom of choice. http://bit.ly/2Yi8OIC

Oh well!!! Let me know when you stop charging ridiculous pricing for outbound data transfer to kill multicloud deployments.

@BlumeVentures @arpiit :-) help us advocate against the walled garden approach that is harming the #MultiCloud startup ecosystem globally. How does an Open Source company running a microservice let's say @MongoDB compete with AWS equivalent if their customers get hit by data fee.

Wait a second. You the CTO of Amazon, a cloud provider that routinely takes open source code and sells services killing off smaller cloud services and don’t give back to those who wrote all that code for you is complaining that someone is charging for products you use? Common man

Hey Werner - IMHO, MSFT is gradually evolving into a COSS company which means this a transitionary phase - all the core tech that creates the vast majority of value will be highly permissive and OSS-licensed over time (my belief), eliminating this dynamic completely.

Doubtful. They open things strategically. Don’t expect anything significant in Office, Windows, Windows Server, or SQL Server to be truly open source anytime in the near future.
