Depends on what parties would be included in the so-called "progressive alliance", as any sort of pact with the SNP etc at the expense of the union would be unacceptable.
-
The SNP won't play ball with any pro-union party unless it feels it can pressure a 2nd indy ref out of them, and it's in Labour's constitution that they must fight every seat in England, Wales and Scotland so they're not gonna step down in any seats to benefit anyone else.

Couldn't disagree with this any more. Lib Dems USP has always been its upholding of liberalism and liberal values. If they fight from the centre-left there is nothing to differentiate itself from Labour. I also fear such move would split the party. Many arent from that SDP wing
-
But equidistance is the antithesis to liberalism. Many liberal positions on issues will naturally be seen as "centre-left". If you always wish to position in the centre of the other two you're abandoning your values.

Anyone who has spent time campaigning where Labour are will tell you that Labour are not progressive. They are as bad as the Tories
-
They’re a million times worse. At least the Tories don’t pretend to be something they’re not.

Our movement was at its biggest (yes, a century ago admittedly!) and best when we spoke out against protectionism, special interests, the power of the state and for personal liberties and freedoms. The Labour party does not stand for those values.
