Today, @SenatorRounds, @SenJohnKennedy and @SenTedCruz joined me in introducing the WALL Act. Our bill... ☑️ Funds @realDonaldTrump's border wall ☑️ Penalizes those who cross the border illegally ☑️ Closes loopholes that allow illegal immigrants to receive federal benefits

Have you visited our southern border? Do you have ANY idea what you are talking about? Texans live along the border. Immigrants are our friends & neighbors. Our land is being taken for a boondoggle symbol of fear & weakness. Don’t mess with Texas!

I lived there for 40 years and it's time for a change, wall and immigration reform is needed for Texas and the USA. The average citizen is tired of being taken advantage of by non-citizens

Is it the cheaper groceries, the towns booming on the border, the influx or workers we need if we are going to sustain the economy in the long run, or the money they contribute to SS but never recoup that you object to?

Immigration reform is needed regardless and a wall is needed so we can monitor who comes in to this country. Those who jump the border should never be given rights in this country.

Our southern border is the Rio Grande River, which is not easily jumped.

How do you suggest we run a wall down the center of the river, because that's where the national border actually is.

I’m even sure if that was a serious question or not, but obviously the wall would be built on the US side of the the Rio Grande

      Replying to @lbsck1 @hotbones69 and

It is a serious question because there's unintended consequences. If it's built on the US side then anybody crossing the river to the wall has entered the us and can legally claim Asylum because the border is in the center of the river.

That also means that the federal government has to seize more property from Americans. Most people in Texas not big on the federal government seizing their land.

Doesn’t matter if they’re big on it, eminent domain laws allow it.

But it will be tied up in the courts for decades. The wall won't be funded anyway, so its a moot issue.

No it won’t. The law is clear cut & is used across the country everyday. The 5th amendment to the constitution allows the government to take land at fair market value. (Amount paid can be disputed) Plus most landowners along the border want protection.

I’m an independent, but more importantly an American who respects our US Constitution. Everything within it was for the people by the people, to assure our freedom, rights & prevent tyranny. Our constitution isn’t government over reach & altering them isn’t an option.

          1) "it" 2) there are 27 amendments to the Constitution, so it has been altered 27 time. I think you need to clarify your thought a bit more.
