I've been searching for the words to describe the feeling of this entire ordeal and your tweet was like an angelic choir finally putting it all together for me.

Abusers always have a victim complex.
-
I know I'm very late to this realization but I just learned the acronym DARVO for "Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim and Offender" and it was a real light bulb moment for me

My God, yes. Just ended a 6 yr "friendship" cause of her emotional manipulation. She did and said whatever she wanted but when I gave her a taste of her own medicine- oh no, different standards.
-
A friend who was always talking about "being honest" dumped me when I called her out on her bullshit. They can dish it out but they can't take it.
-
How very sad for them that they are essentially living in their own fantasy lands but we are the ones that see clear. They lose. We win.

This. Narcissism is a mental illness that prevents abusers from having empathy. It's sad for them.

Nailed it. Super ridiculous. While babies are separated from parents, we're supposed to say "please" and "thank you" and be "civilized" while you drink your tea with your pinky out. It's that crazy contrast, man.

Ah, you remind me of a certain episode with an ex. He came at me, again, shouting, “In my family, you don’t call the cops!” Finally finding my spine (and feet) I retorted, “In MY family, you don’t have to!”
-
PS: He was arrested, charged, plead guilty. I haven’t seen - or missed- him in decades. And I realized that I wasn’t safe & capable until I found my way back to my true values. Probably works for nations, too.

Yes yes yes, this is so true. Mine could say any vile, insulting thing he wanted to me, but even just defending myself or mentioning his bad behavior was taken as an unforgivable slander that then had to be atoned for.
-
Too many of have been in this situation in our personal lives. Now we are in an abusive relationship with the government. It's so wrong.
-
This. Was still trying to piece my life back together from mine-- when Lump got elected. Plunged straight back into hell.
-
