All trains will be replaced by 2023; Half of new trains will be assembled in Wales; Nearly £200m to refurbish all stations. The Welsh Labour Government has struck the first ever rail deal that’s made in Wales, for Wales. Change is coming🚆pic.twitter.com/5iVMV2nX4d

Just a thought... why bother with electrification of lines when you can opt for the fuel of the future? let's follow Germany's example and have hydrogen powered trains, it's not as if we're short of water in Wales! #NewWaleshttps://www.theguardian.com/environment/2018/sep/17/germany-launches-worlds-first-hydrogen-powered-train …

It's coming! Wales will have one of three hydrogen train test centres in Europe! Ken Skates name dropped it as Project Hornby and has said that the carbon goals in the new franchise can be reset over 10-15 year periods to incentivise the train franchisee to introduce hydrogen!

That's great! And, I'm really pleased. But, then, why waste money on electrification of valleys line? Isn't it better to invest that money on other transport needs, e.g. connecting rural communities?

I suppose it gives more freedom to have old electric rolling stock from electrified lines in the mean time, electric is much closer than hydrogen

Maybe, I suppose that will depend on how long it takes for hydrogen trains!

The elephant in the room that everyone is trying to politely ignore is where the hydrogen is coming from?pic.twitter.com/Lawe1AKh4w

Agree that hydrogen is not as clean as one may think, but its use appears to be innovative with great potential to deliver sustainable transport solutions...https://singularityhub.com/2018/10/03/the-worlds-first-hydrogen-powered-commuter-train-is-now-in-service/ …

Please make sure that there are defibrillators on all these new trains! As currently they are only going to be situated in stations!abd in my opinion that isn’t good enough fur the people of wales! We deserve better!

We need more carriages on the Cardiff to Maesteg route. Often passengers at Llanharan, Pontyclun and Pencoed are left standing, or not able to get on the train at all.

It will be import because the roads will be buggered up.... Goodness knows why Labour speculates about events post-Brexit when they’ve no chance of gaining power if they can’t formulate a credible position on #Brexit 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Agreed, I’m retired, and at a time when the UK faces its most serious peacetime crisis for generations we’ve got the worst Government and worst opposition ever... I’d like to see both Tories and Labour step aside and leave it to either the SNP or the Civil Service to sort it out
