I think it should be easier for people to switch directions in the later stages of their careers. But there has to be changed a lot to make this actually work.
It seems a little crazy that 18 year olds are expected to choose their degree. It’s like, “What are you going to spend the rest of your life doing?” “IDK I’m 18!”

I always wish there wasn’t so much pressure to get it immediately out of high school. I always would hear people say “if you don’t get it right out of school, you’ll never go back to do it later.” Now I wished I spent a little more time thinking..... 18 is too young.

It certainly seems that way. I remember my turn at the bat. BUT we better provide them with experiences to help them. Industry/parents/workshops/virtual environments all can help to help people evaluate what a Dr or lawyer or IT guy do. Develop a badge system like Boy Scouts
