5 years ago DevOps was the hottest thing around. Then came "Full Stack". Time for a new buzzword. I propose "Full Stack DevOps Engineer"

Full stack used to mean front and back, now devops seems to have appeared under the spec.

I see the same thing in engineering all the time, most spec requirements cover multiple disciplines some that are even irrelevant to the advertised job. I think it's just the kids in some of these agencies that don't have a clue

I have no problem with the "volume" of the job spec, and I know a lot of devs at good organizations who easily satisfy this. I just think it's the wrong topics. I'd ask for principles, practices, and disciplines instead of technologies.

To be more precise: I'd ask for CI/CD, Automation, TDD, BDD, Programming Paradigms (SP, OOP, FP), Clean Code, Design Patterns, Design Principles, Trunk-Based Development, Security Practices, Refactoring, Test Automation Pyramid. Not expecting everything, but a solid subset.

The list of 'requirements' can be disheartening when your first starting looking. Dont think I've ever been fully qualified for any job in the past (not tech) though and have more often than not talked them into giving me a go so I'm hoping to just continue with that tactic!

Mind you in some cases the requirements were actually required and I had a really short period of employment

"We are looking for a React Native developer. But you also have to take care of our Web app and know how to make a custom API and manage servers. And we're paying *enter number below market rate*"

And of course with “more than 99 years of experience in each technology”
