Potentially forever if the surrounds hold up. In reality a good one is probably ~20 years (though it’s possible they sound decent with the surrounds shot, too) dDepends on what they’re made of- rubber, silicone, paper, etc

I’ve got a pair of 15” Jensen Blues from 1957 with paper surrounds and they’re still fine. I’ve got a pair of JBL 10” woofers from the 80s that need to have the foam surrounds replaced. Then they’re good for another 20 years.

There is no technical reason to discontinue currently working product.

That's awful. There is definitely something to be said from getting "dumb" TVs, speakers etc then attaching something "smart" rather than getting an integrated device like a Sonos. I've heard of TVs that have lost functionality with long wait for update to fix.
