    "Damn right" is a bit flippant, so in longer form: SE Seattle is disconnected from downtown cycling-wise. The direct, level route would go along Rainier Ave as is planned in the BMP. Rainier Valley deserves attention to their cycling needs and isn't getting it.

    I'm so excited to hear and supporting bike lanes on Eastlake. It's a really important piece of the bike network. University Bridge has the second highest bike counts of the bridges counted in the city! And that's with Eastlake in its current scary state.

    At today's press conference, Jenny Durkan was unambiguous: "Eastlake is moving forward. We need those bike lanes". Given the tenor of the district council members' stance at last weeks Eastlake Townhall, this statement is powerful and timely.

    asked if Eastlake bike lanes were definitely happening based on criticism of the project. Sam said it's moving forward and the Mayor followed up by saying "we need those bike lanes" because there is no alternative route.

    I just emailed about what it’s like for many UW biomedical research grad students trying to safely get back and forth from lab to class from SLU and the Hutch without Eastlake bike lanes. Eastlake is both a neighborhood AND a thoroughfare— a literal path for cures.

    Full-depth concrete paving for approximately 1.4 miles is proposed on Eastlake Ave E between Fairview Ave N and Fuhrman Ave E. Smoother rides for the cyclists and a roadway that can support the buses, and it'll probably be better for drivers too.

    Operations: The Project would operate 24 hours per day with 7.5-minute headways or better during AM (7 to 9 AM) and PM (5 to 6 PM) peak periods, and with 10-minute headways midday and until 10 PM on weekdays. 7.5 min is barely enough time to get a coffee. :(

    Improve Pedestrian & Bicycle Safety. There are intersections with above-average rates of collisions with vehicles. From 2012 to 2016, 8 intersections along the corridor were reported to have 3+ pedestrian injury collisions & 6 intersections had 4+ bicyclist injury collisions.

    Reduce Overcrowding of Existing Bus Capacity. The number of riders on each bus along the corridor exceed the seated capacity on 15% of daily trips and 32% of the trips during the morning and afternoon peak periods.
