I have a lot of respect for an administrator who will listen to my honest comments without fearing retribution. There’s a lot of trust and relationship building that took place to make me feel that respect for them.

If a teacher points out a potential problem with a decision or policy, it's not personal, or a challenge to your authority. It's a stakeholder looking out for investments.

And it doesn’t always have to be seen as a negative attitude if a teacher is coming with concerns. Teachers thoughts need to be listened to and validated, even if not agreed with by the admin.

As long as respect is a part of the equation, it works. I will listen, and weigh out what’s best for the school. Sometimes teachers NEED to know the Why as well as the How and When.

Admin need to also honor staff honest and thank them for it. Additionally, no punitive damage should be made if admin does not like what to hear. Then, communication can feel secure, positive, and be for the entire school community

Did just this at an invitation, moved from English dept head " I am too controversial for our school" to the last chance and on line high where no one's opinion is taken seriously because too many mistakes have been made to be taken seriously. No voice now
