What difference does it make? I don't want any repeat violent offender at large. First, protect decent citizens. Then, we can talk about rehabilitating criminals and criminal justice reform.

There is a huge difference between drug possession (nonviolent, victimless), driving without a valid license (this could mean he left it at home or it expired), stealing a cell phone... Which the article implied LEAD TO MURDER (then sidenotes a prior domestic violence charge)

You can't just lock people up for every little thing, "oh no someone jaywalked and that's antisocial, best lock them up in case they try to kill their mother"
