I'm having to switch from @WebStormIDE to @code due to recent performance issues with WebStorm. I hope they are able to fix the issues because I'm a longtime user and big fan. In the meantime, I still have to get work done.

Would be really helpful if you send us at least the content of the IDE log folder (menu Help - Show logs). The causes of performance issues are usually pretty unique and it's possible that we don't have the problem that is similar to yours already reported.
