well. Slack is at 1.5GB memoryon my MacBook right now. that's an objective fact. if i scroll up more than two pages, it takes 20s. fact.

Btw my desktop slack app uses ~0.5GB of ram, same as vscode. But WebStorm, fir example,uses 3 to 4 GB. I should switch to vscode )

That's very weird. By default WebStorm doesn't consume more that 750MB RAM + Java environment. All together that's usually no more that 1GB.

Setting the memory limit too high can indead lead to some performance problems :( Please try to set the xmx to 1024mb or lower.
