Why is Webstorm so complicated to create a file watcher. All I want is... 1. Grab file from here 2. Compile 3. Put the compiled file there

the configuration very much depends on the tool you’re using - you’ve to use its CLI options to point to the output location

the thing is why does file watcher put the compiled file always inside the original file. This is for sass, babel, less etc.

it groups related files in one directory visually in the project view.

so is that a good practice because I find it quite annoying. Why not just put it in the same directory (not grouped) by default

they in the same directory. You can change Project to Project files view in the Project tool window to see them ungrouped
