Sorry, they both can now only be used from the Commit tool window which is now the main entry point for working with changed files. Any specific reason why you want to see them together with the Git log? Or is a problem with the default position of the Commit tool window?
Git Log (commits), Local Changes & Shelves are all the same thing: past, present and future. I like a similar interface with diff pane I can open/close that shows the selected file diff. Commit msg wast of space most of the time.
