Software engineering friends:
I am taking data structures and algorithms this semester for the first time since....fall 2011? Or fall 2010
And it’s in Java.
Send help (and prayers)
For starters, is Eclipse still *the* IDE or can I use something else?

They’re both pretty similar. I’ve been using VScode more recently so that would be my suggestion

I use VSCode for JS and IntelliJ for Java. I like Intellij much more. So much so that I'm considering purchasing WebStorm (IntelliJ's sister for JS)

We are happy to hear that!
By the way, IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate has the same support for JavaScript and all the related tech as WebStorm has. You just have to install some additional free plugins. Let us know if you have any questions!
