Would be nice to show available updates when in package.json . Could you think about it?
Hi, nice idea. Here are similar feature requests: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/WEB-24952 and https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/WEB-33695
However, right now there're several ways to see if a newer version is available. You can cmd/ctrl-hover on the package name or its version in the package.json to see the latest available version.
Another way is to open Preferences | Languages & Frameworks | Node.js and npm and see the list of dependencies with the current and latest version next to it. This is a pretty ancient feature and there're several known UX issues with that, unfortunately.
