Dear @WebStormIDE, I get it. I do #webdev and the feature set you're offering is far superior the current @code setup I have. But: I'm in the third week of trying _really_ hard to use @WebStormIDE and it's just unusable: Keyboard shortcuts.

I tried to use the default: basics are not working - with a laptop, there are no PGN and HOME keys arround, so I can't jump to positions. Don't even try to mark until end of file... Navigation is also just all over the place, no real scheme recognisable...

Then I tried another, contributed keyboard scheme. Worked only half good half bad, then indenting things was broken. Then I tried to go back to the default one and customize it. That's one rabbit hole I can tell you... oh boy, brace yourself.

So then, after rebinding half the keymap, I was still searching for words to describe the shortcuts I'd like to rebind... I'm giving up. Let me tell you, I've talked to many powerusers of IDE shortcuts and it's the same experience for the most: OK after heavy customisation.

I would stay if I had more time to sacrifice, but: If you would support shortcuts from other common IDEs initially and really take care to match functionality, people would stay for your better feature set for sure. For now, I'm leaving. I'm really sorry.

Thank you for your feedback. Sorry to hear that it didn't work out. What editor have you used before? We do have keymaps from other editors: Eclipse, NetBeans, Sublime Text, Visual Studio, VS Code...

Thanks a lot for gettings back to me! So what I tried to use is the Visual
@VisualStudio keymap, but that's very different in comparison to what I'm currently used to:@code I think this is fast evolving to be the most used editor in#webdev and already got crazy traction.2 replies 1 retweet 0 likes -

The bundled Visual Studio keymap is similar to the one used in Visual Studio, not VS Code. If you're looking for a VS Code keymap, we have it as a separate plugin: https://plugins.jetbrains.com/plugin/12062-vs-code-keymap … We plan to bundle it in one of the upcoming releases.

That's the one I've tried, but it's really missing quite some things! Can one contribute to that plugin?

Sure, it's available on GitHub:https://github.com/bulenkov/VSCodeKeymap4IntelliJ/issues …
