The anniversary of the 14th amendment should be a reminder to us that we have come a long way, but still have a long way to go. We must keep up the fight for civil rights for all.

We will not negotiate the safety of our schools, students, families, staff, and educators. Threats to withhold federal resources and force districts to ignore public health guidelines amidst a pandemic is irresponsible, immoral, and unethical.

This campaign is about connecting with people, advocating for equity and justice, and challenging social constructs. We can do all of those things without compromising our constituency.

We get a lot of questions about campaign events and what things will look like going forward. Our campaign will make every effort to be creative and remain connected to voters while adhering to the guidelines. These are guidelines that our SCOTUS has not changed.

On July 4, 2020, Kanye West threw his hat into the political ring for POTUS. (This is not an endorsement or position it is just a note) I would have started with, "This day in history..." but it wasn't today.

I hope that everyone is safe and enjoying their Fourth of July. I took some time to reflect on how I can impact change, inspire others, and contribute to an environment that promotes equity for every human being.

Over and over we learn the power of people who use their collective voices. Fifty-one years ago, we saw this in Stonewall. Today, we continue the fight for human rights.

Juneteenth is not a day that is intended to be famous. It is a day of reflection that should be met with respect and regard. Slave in Texas received word nearly three years after the announcement of the Emancipation Proclamation. They continued in servitude until June 19, 1865.
