There is not enough food for them here when they come out of hibernation early due to unseasonably warm weather. I live in Adirondack mountains. It is verboten to feed or leave food 4 them. Perhaps spring feeding by DEC in remote areas will be warranted soon. Heartbreaking.

Also came home to young dear, but not fawn, grazing for melt snow covered apples in my yard this evening. I don't pick my apples - leave them for the deer to scavenge over winter. If I see too many hungry this spring, I will try to do something to help w/in ethics & reason.

That's really bad news as there isn't really much in the way of food for them yet. They will starve and be aggressive towards humans - even black bears that normally (except mothers with cubs) go out of their way to avoid us.
