The reason it seems many of us hammer the Far-Left more than the Far-Right is that we EXPECT White Supremacists et al. to act like violent thugs. Liberalism is suppose to be cerebral, making the case with good arguments, not angry fists. Conclusion: the Far-Left ≠ Liberalism.
Also, the mainstream right has a line at which they don't allow people farther right than that to be in their club, like say the line of claiming racial superiority. What line does the mainstream left have where someone too far left can't be in THEIR club? They don't have one.

You haven't been paying attention. The mainstream right has tolerated and even played footsie with outright white nationalists for years. This predates Trump. Trump simply took advantage of it.
-
Not just not paying attention, totally deluded. Every single "mainstream" outlet is currently decrying the outrageous swing of political candidates to the left because they want to...wait for it...subsidize healthcare.

WHAT? Dude, you literally had an entire White House filled with them who now keynote CPAC events. What planet do you live on?

Exactly. That's what
@realDonaldTrump was talking about here. https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2018/07/donald-trump-culture-wars-britain … - Show replies

Claims of racial superiority are no barrier within the body of the Republican Party. For example, birtherism.
-
How are idiots hoping that Obama was not born here so he can't legally be president the same as someone like the KKK, idiots who claim that whites are a superior race? I guess you see these is equivalent?

Depends how you define "mainstream left". Centrist liberals support capitalism so they'd oppose socialism, mainstream socialists support trade unions but aren't so cool with violent revolution.
-
Good point; when I was thinking of it I sort of meant the mainstream socialist camp but I obviously didn't make that clear. So the question would be, what beliefs or actions would that camp find to be too far radically left? Is there a line? I honestly don't know.

The mainstream right does not have that specific line, nor any such line that I can see.
-
Is the KKK allowed to be part of the mainstream GOP? Not saying there aren't some racists in the GOP, by the way. There are certainlyb some that do seem to be. But how about those who overtly express idea of racial superiority? Are they allowed to sit at the table?
