Ford lied – again – to the people of Ontario, saying he wouldn’t privatize our public health care. Private, for-profit surgery clinics will mean the number one priority won’t be you and your family’s care – it will be some corporation’s bottom line. #onpoli

Heart-wrenching. My 92+ parents are separate LTC homes as well…90 minutes away from each other.

So sad: After 73 years of marriage, an Ottawa couple has been forced to live in separate long-term care homes for 19 months. Why? Because the Ontario government has brought in changes which make it virtually impossible to unite couples in long-term care. The system is broken.

In long-term care, do you think that only 1 nurse & 2 PSWs caring for 30+ frail elders who need assistance with bathing, feeding, toileting, dressing, taking meds AND monitoring in case of decline in health...is acceptable? How do we as a society still allow this to happen?

I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Hazel McCallion, a trailblazer in Canadian politics and a determined advocate for her city. Hazel and her leadership will be greatly missed. I had the chance to meet Hazel in 2016. My condolences to her family and loved ones.

Customers who pay an equal monthly payment plan to Enbridge for their home heating are now experiencing sticker shock with the massive jump in charges. Energy bills have surged under Doug Ford. The Ford government continues to rubber-stamp increases to natural gas prices.(2/3)

The people of Ontario deserve to know whether or not developers who purchased protected land were tipped off by the PC government. The investigations launched by the Integrity Commissioner and the Auditor General are a step in the right direction. #onpoli

The Minister may have not answered the questions--but it's pretty clear. If you have the money, you'll get better healthcare services. If you don't have the means to pay, tough luck. This is US style two-tier healthcare.

"I wouldn't call it upselling. I would call it patient options," said Ontario Health Minister Sylvia Jones when asked about the risk of patients being persuaded to spend money at for-profit clinics.

Private profits are in direct conflict with low-cost and access to public care. The ultimate price for Premier Ford’s American-style scheme will be paid by the people of Ontario with a more severe staffing crisis and out-of-pocket bills

Tommy Douglas was voted the greatest Canadian, ever, because he spent his life fighting for publicly-funded, publicly-delivered health care for all people. Now what does that make Doug Ford, who is bringing in private, for-profit health care? #onpoli

Premier Doug Ford will unveil his plans for new for-profit surgical clinics at 10 am. The controversial plan, providing services covered by OHIP, is designed to ease the crunch at hospitals. Critics fear it will cannibalize hospital staff. #onpoli thestar.com/politics/provi

Ford’s next big move to privatize public healthcare will hurt people. Longer wait times and the growth of payment for health services will be the result. Don’t believe him for a moment when he says people won’t have to pay.
