We're excited to be at the #TCMobility conference. Follow along as we live-tweet some of the moments from the session with CTO Dmitri Dolgov.

As much as I like Waymo, this miles number updates is becoming worthless nonsense. Tell us when you guys will start volume deployments.

You'll want a super efficient vehicle to put that AV system on. 4000lbs of steel will make no sense in a world of self driving!https://twitter.com/HaveAGo/status/1148999368780832768 …

Which means how many learned scenario? Which scenarios? Using that simulation or one with high fidelity models?

I've driven some half a million miles in GTA V. I also robbed some banks there. I think I'm ready to do it in real life. What could possibly go wrong?

It’ll be helpful to clearl distinct virtual vs. real road miles. There is not amount of virtual - computer simulated “road situations”- that will prove anything about AV road safety. Simulation can help to test functional reliability of AI based system, not real road AV safety
-
Functional safety is necessary but not sufficient for road safety. Because billions/ ... / parsecs of simulated miles is a kind of safety metrics that works inside formalized universe, not real world. “Autoformalisation - Knowledge acquisition .. .” http://www.netvalley.com/cgi-bin/library/autoformalization_en_txt.pl …

Now you need to drive 10 billion miles on roads around the planet and you will be all set. Remember no aircraft pilots got a license in the flight simulator.
-
Is this a vanity metric? Of course credits to our friends at Waymo - after all not many companies in the world have accomplished simulations at this scale!
