Aerodynamic analysis for Atlas intensifies, bull body cruise computational fluid dynamics streamlines show below, special attention to the way the electric ducted fan exhaust interacts with the wing 🌬

A more mature model of Atlas, including passenger, control surfaces, and electric ducted fans. The standing position would be unique to Atlas and provide a entirely new flight experience 🤟

Next airframe iteration was a complete ground up redesign. Mavis went away and the first concept of what would become Atlas came to live. Very rough engineering model 😅 @ Velocity Garage

Mavis 2.0 got a sleeker cockpit, bigger wing area, and higher solidity propellers. @ Communitech Hub

An artist’s render of our first airframe iteration, Mavis. Did you know Mavis is an acronym for Mobile Air Vehicle in Suburbs? Named after its intended use case 🤯

Do you ever think your flying car idea is crazy? It’s not, check out all these other flying cars and jetpacks we found at the !

While in California, we met some great people, like the folks from the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 20, and the amazing vickybenzing who put on a stunning performance!

The next iteration of Atlas’ prototype was a foam board laser cut model. Thanks to the facilities at velocityincubator, we can rough up this drone during testing and laser cut a new one within an hour.

Our tail-sitter design that you’ve come to know and love as ‘Atlas’ started here: a scrappy drone made out of insulating foam, lightweight, cheap, easier to repair, easier to iterate.

Iterating is part of any design process. Our second drone: Bare MAVIS. A bare down version of the previous drone, meaning it’s lighter, and easier & cheaper to repair.

Onto things that fly, this was our first drone prototype: MAVIS. A tilt wings quad rotor prototyped with a fiberglass airframe and 3D printed wings. Good looking don’t you think? 😎
