I just received this as well. In their response to me tonight, House declined to release full report on former Rep. David Sawyer, saying there is no “responsive record” and instead sending me a summary media and others already had received.

Back to the quick revision to HB 2484. Normally only unanimous recommendations by Sunshine Committee members appear in legislation. The 911 exemption was far from unanimous, yet WA state Rep. Mia Gregerson inserted it anyway. It was her amendment.

Naturally, the incident, along with the Sunshine Committee's track record generally, inspired jokes about how the panel should be called the Partly Cloudy Committee. (Or the Overcast Committee.) It helps WA state advocates stay sane.

Making childrens' 911 calls secret was a fraught topic at Sunshine Committee meetings last fall, in part because the panel's chair at the time took the initiative to propose a *new* exemption to WA state's public records laws.

The amendment expands secrecy provisions for child crime victims, both living and dead, by including "voice" as "identifying information." This would include, in particular, 911 audio tapes.
