    I agree with : this is indeed a slippery slope. Russia controls <10% of Ukraine's population in the occupied parts of Donetsk & Luhansk oblasts; why give Russia a veto over what the rest of the Ukrainian population chooses to do?

    Officials in Paris seems to have suggested that "some interpretation" of the Minsk agreement "involving the eventual powers of the breakaway Donbas region over national policy" could satisfy Putins "insistence that Ukraine never join NATO".

    this graph can tell you a lot. Russian-speaking citizen in Ukraine can easily a) support Ukraine as a pokitical nation and defend it against aggression, b) agree that though Russian is his/her everyday language, Ukrainian is the language of his/her country and shd be strengthened

    Ukraine's language differences are not linear. There's a cross-regional consensus on the need to further support Ukrainian language. Even mostly Russian-speaking regions in East and South mostly back this idea. -- Source: Kyiv International Institute of Sociology

    There was a time, not long ago, when imperial powers like UK, France, Portugal etc claimed their colonies as their "sphere of influence." Thank God we didn't listen o them back then. So why now is it ok to let Russia exercise a sphere of influence over its former colony, Ukraine?

    We can argue about history all we want but it is Russia that is endangering the already fragile “peace” in Ukraine. It were Putin’s commands in 2014 and 2015 that brought us here. Not the collapse of the Soviet Union or Poro/Z government

    4/4. This would confer openly on Russia’s long-running campaign to keep hold of Ukraine, the status it has probably really had since the start (in 2013?)—that is, of a political campaign then war of colonial re-subjugation, but, oddly of a modern, but "pre-industrial" kind.

    When Putin says Ukraine was invented by Lenin, it's not a joke. He can't forgive bolsheviks creation of semi-sovereign soviet "republics". He's more archaic than Soviets: he believes Ukrainians/Belarusians don't exist as nations. He wants to return to Russian empire, not USSR
