The debate everybody’s talking about. Reminder, most locations have continued to see cool, wet weather this spring. We shouldn’t need to run sprinklers until later this month.

Should be able to get through 5+ days… if the warm dry spell goes longer than that, then may need to turn them on. This time of year should be “as needed”. Regular schedule typically not needed until June. Of course, this varies depending on sun exposure and other factors.

Only 6% of water is used on residential lawns. If we really want to conserve water we need to change the legislation around the use it or lose it laws for farmers. And require farmers to use sprinklers instead of inefficiently flooding out their fields.

Sprinkling for green lawns need to become a thing of the past. Hopefully the utah legislature will give enough in tax credits to help us all zero-scape or at least use local shrubs/etc that can survive utah’s harsh summers. It’s only a matter of time. Mother Nature always wins.

Idk how state institutions get away with maintaining large lawns…while telling us all about droughts and conserving water.
