Basically is it a potentially usable replacement currency that will appreciate in value as an alternative to fiat currency & other crypto currencies making it worth holding with 
hands presently?
Digital currency is not currency. They are digital collectibles, like baseball cards. They are strictly valued on supply and demand, and in order to buy something with them you have to exchange them for real currency.
