this piece of steel has enabled me to do so many things it was just vibing in the pencil case I keep in my backpack; unknowingly being carried with me everywhere I went this whole time

I found my favourite 15cm rule last night after years of thinking it was lost and I just wanted to share that, because metal with lines precisely inscribed on it at set intervals is surprisingly useful

I got to learn tiki was still alive and kicking this year, and tbh... I still miss her. I miss getting to be the me I was when her and I met, too - but if he knew what I knew, then things would be different, so I can't blame him for being me, y'know

please be creative btw. online is full of fleeting luxury. paid personalities. material desires. it comes and goes. make something that’ll last. please. it’s deeper than our individual lives sometimes. don’t get lost

It happened again just now, but this time it was for three months of dev time So much has changed for me personally over the last year, but it's still crazy to think about how much people are willing to support me in the things I do

I've been coughing my guts up so much over the last week that my abs are actively starting to hurt I've been meaning to work out more lately but this is not the kind of exercise I was expecting

I get given this week off work and fell ill on Sunday for the first time since catching covid back in June It's been nearly three days and I've never coughed up such chewy phlegm before, it's gross
Every so often I have lucid dreams where I realise I'm not awake, but the environment is realistic enough to make me doubt myself - they're always the ones set in mundane, everyday locations There's some commentary to be made about that, but it wouldn't fit into a single tweet
A surprising amount of time spent on these gloves goes into figuring out how to design them in such a way to make them brain-dead to assemble, and while I'm definitely biased being the designer and all, I'd say I've been doing a pretty good job of it

I have an idea as to where I'm going with this, but it's 1 in the morning and I need far more brain power to continue conveying the point eloquently Social media is trash and has no problem using you, more than you use it

Make another account? Yeah, but that's keeping yourself trapped in the system. DM people individually? That defeats the point of wanting to share your work with the world. Use another platform? See the options available these days and refer to the first sentence in this tweet.

I *want* to be able to post my depressing-ass takes. I wanna post about stuff other than VR gloves every now and then, but those numbers don't lie and it's clear people don't care for hearing about those sorts of things from me, so what options do I have?

But that's what people expect! They get to know you for one thing and one thing only - people that claim they care about the multifaceted human being on the other side of the screen, wouldn't just say they care, they'd offer ways of showing it

I don't enjoy the fact that my personal twitter account has effectively became just an avenue for VR glove posting, and the fact that companies I'd honestly enjoy working for follow me on here has also lead to a level of self-censorship I sometimes find genuinely uncomfortable

The compartmentalisation of user-generated content facilitated by the capitalistic schemes of those wishing to monetise the creative passions of those sharing themselves online, has lead to the stifling of personal expression and the commodification of user engagement

I've managed to redesign the VR gloves around Hall Effect sensors in such a way to eliminate 75% of the soldering, and the last 25% is also being worked out of it too People are telling me I should patent this, but I'm not sure if that'd impede open sourcing the designs

Real talk though, having a level of personal insight to where you can recognise conjurations of your subconsciousness is a great tool for diagnosing your mental state Would recommend, it's a fun take on meditation that you can literally do in your sleep

I've gotten proficient enough with lucid dreaming to where I can't actually remember the last time I had a regular one recently Being painfully aware of the reality around you has its perks, maybe that's why VR hardware dev is so appealing to me 🙃

To all my recent followers; Y'all cool, enjoy the glove posts, sometimes there's stuff that isn't gloves As for @immersion_mech, it's good to see you're back again my guy, the XRCaliper project was and continues to be inspirational as a hardware dev

One of my peak nerd desires is a set of D&D dice made from lapis lazuli, with gold leaf inlay for the numbers This's been something I've had on my mind ever since @polymorphMT gifted me my first set of blue and gold dice many a year ago

it's funny to think that I might have the world's smallest FDM multi-material benchy on my desk and practically nobody knows about it
