Joe I served my country for 10 yrs in the USAF. I started smoking when I was 18 & finally quit when I was 38. 20 fucking years to quit that filthy habit. This law is outstanding, & it has nothing to do with serving your Country & being able to use a cancer stick at 18.

Yup. It's a free country, and if people are still dumb enough to smoke cigarettes then the rest of us will help pay for their healthcare when lung cancer is killing them. I don't mean this facetiously; smoking is stupid, but it shouldn't be illegal.

I agree with you. Personally I think everything should be one age. Alcohol, cigarettes, military service, lottery's tickets, all of it.

I’ll vote for raising the age of fighting on the battlefield to 21. My dad fought in Vietnam. He was 21 and he was too young. His arm was injured as was his soul. Fuck war.

My husband turned 21 the last month he was there.

Exactly. I feel we should raise the age to join the military to 21. The Army reported in 2012 that the average enlistment age was just under 21 anyway. Might as well let the kids joining today experience a bit more of their country before sending them to die for it.

A lot of kids who can't afford college join at 18 and get eventually money for education. I wouldn't want to create a multi year gap between HS and that enlistment that gives people some housing and pay and educational opportunities
