Pretty simple: If the money is lining their pockets, then no biggie; but if it is going to the least well off in our society, they freak out. Basically, greed and selfishness determine the position.

Because you asked the question, you know the answer. People felt such angst bc of Obama’s color. He didn’t fit the bill of historical “standards” & racial bigotry was at the heart of it.

And ended up being the best, most humane president we’ve ever had. If only there had been no gop and teapartiers to stop him from accomplishing all he was destined to accomplish. I can do fanaticism too.

I know an early tea partier for whom it really is about the debt. The group's center changed, but there are people who legit hold small govt/ fiscally conservative ideals. And then of course there are the people who use that as cover.
